Who We Are
The Pretoria Hindu Society
The Pretoria Hindu Society (PHS) was formed in 1996 by the Pretoria Hindu Organisation, the umbrella body that represents the interests of all Hindu linguistic groups in Pretoria since 1971. Its initial mandate was to build the first school in South Africa with a specific Hindu ethos, which simultaneously provided an excellent secular education.
In 2015, PHS sold the school to Amity International, an institution with a world-wide reputation for quality education and who run over 15 schools and five universities in different countries.
The proceeds of the sale have been used to build the first-ever retirement home in Laudium, that caters specifically to the needs of our community.
We are a dedicated band of volunteer community workers whose primary objective is to leave the society better off than we found it.
Laudium Retirement Home
Laudium Retirement Home is a 28 bed in-patient facility offering holistic comprehensive care and support-palliative care to all its patients, and offering support to their families.
The Retirement Home is situated in Laudium Ext. 1, servicing not only the greater Pretoria region, but open to all communities in South Africa.
