Our Story

The Pretoria Hindu Society

The Pretoria Hindu Society (PHS) was established in 1996 by the Pretoria Hindu Organisation, the umbrella body representing Hindu linguistic groups in Pretoria since 1971. Its initial mandate was to build the first school in South Africa with a specific Hindu ethos, which simultaneously provided an excellent secular education.

Following the sale of its school to Amity International in 2015, PHS invested the proceeds in creating Laudium Retirement Home, the first retirement home in Laudium dedicated to serving the needs of the local community.

Currently, we have established two homes in the Laudium and Centurion area, aimed at providing high-quality, holistic health care services to the elderly.

As a volunteer-driven non-profit organisation, PHS remains committed to initiatives that strengthen and support the community for future generations.
