OUR HERITAGE
Our Story
The Pretoria Hindu Society (PHS) was established in 1996 by the Pretoria Hindu Organisation, the umbrella body representing Hindu linguistic groups in Pretoria since 1971. Its initial mandate was to establish a school with a distinctive Hindu ethos while providing an excellent secular education.
Following the sale of the school to Amity International in 2015, PHS invested the proceeds in addressing another important community need — quality care and support for elderly people. This led to the establishment of Laudium Retirement Home and, subsequently, Raslouw Retirement Home in Centurion, extending PHS’s commitment to providing high-quality, holistic care in a warm, family-style environment.
Today, PHS remains a volunteer-driven non-profit organisation committed to initiatives that serve, strengthen and support the community. Through its retirement homes, this commitment continues by providing older people with professional care, dignity, companionship and a genuine sense of belonging.
